Now, no need to panic, you don’t have to be Mary Berry to throw the perfect Macmillan Coffee Morning. Simply follow our guide below and we’ll help make your event a piece of cake.
1. Choose your venue
Big or small, every Macmillan Coffee Morning event is helpful! Have it in your living room or your local town hall, as long as there’s cakes, coffee and donations we think it’s a success.
2. Invite everyone you know
Coffee mornings are a great excuse to catch up with friends over a cuppa and a slice of cake for an amazing cause. If your having it at home, invite as many friends, family, colleagues and neighbours you can pack into your front room. Or, if you’re going big and hosting a community event, make sure you’ve done plenty of promotion! Advertise in your local paper or promote on Facebook to make sure you get as many people as possible to attend.
3. Kit out your kitchen
Cook up a storm in style with our fabulous selection of kitchen essentials. Channel your inner Mary Berry and look the part in our new season ‘home sweet home’ apron and matching oven glove. Create a morning to remember and set up your space using cake stands, bunting, table cloths and flowers. Our beautiful patterned tea towels are perfect for presenting or serving your freshly-baked masterpieces.
4. Bake, bake, bake!
The time has come to put everything you’ve ever learned from The Great British Bake Off to use. Cakes, pastries, muffins, tray bakes, biscuits, you name it – the more you bake, the more you make in our eyes. Macmillan cancer support have lots of easy cake recipes on their website if you’re in need of some inspiration. Don’t forget to offer sweet treats with pots of coffee and tea to create a morning spread your guests won’t be able to refuse.
5. Raise lots of money
Simply ask your guests to make a donation for the coffee and cakes on offer. Make sure you have a donation box or basket prominent when guests are selecting their favourite goodies. Cake-related competitions and raffles are also a great way to raise money on your Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Now that the hard work is done, it’s time to enjoy a well-deserved rest. Take a seat, grab a cuppa and enjoy a selection of yummy home baking with friends. It will taste so much better knowing you’ve played your part in helping Macmillan Cancer support.
